Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday)

When we receive your ASKMYGP form at the practice our Care Navigators will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or other health professional to help you.

The practice team, clinicians / care navigators as appropriate, will respond according to your request within one working day – if the matter is urgent and cannot wait until the next day, please call us on 01942 367960, or as always if there are life threatening symptoms, please call 999.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days

The practice team, clinicians / care navigators as appropriate, will respond according to your request within one working day – if the matter is urgent and cannot wait until the next day, please call us on 01942 367960, or as always if there are life threatening symptoms, please call 999.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • with a GP/ANP/Nurse/HCA/First Contact Physio
  • advise you to attend urgent clinical services as necessary

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

To cancel your appointment:

  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
  • use your Patient Access account (on the Patient Access website)
  • fill in an online form
  • phone us on 01942 367960, Monday to Friday, when we are open
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday, when we are open

Extended / enhanced services

We operate extended/enhanced services to provide access to GP appointments & Cervical smear appointments.

You can call 01942 482848 for these appointments OR When speaking to our reception team ask them to 'remote book' an appointment for the extended/enhanced services.

You will be sent the details of the appointment by text if you have provided your mobile phone number to the practice.

Appointments are at two locations:

Kid Glove House: We now have a one day service each weekend at Kid Glove House, plus some evening appointments too.

Ashton in Makerfield: The other location is Ashton Medical Centre, with appointments on alternate days to those at Kid Glove House.

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

NHS 111 now provides advice and out of hours cover for Wigan.

Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.

HUB/GP Alliance on 01942 482848 – Routine GP appointments Monday to Friday evenings and weekends.

Please avoid contacting the out of hours service for repeat medication unless absolutely unavoidable – contact your usual pharmacy for assistance.

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email.
  • If you need an interpreter.
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need. To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8am as possible on 01942 367960. You can also:
